They said that education must challenge and support students at all levels, whilst identifying the most able and ensuring that they are stretched. This got me thinking, surely ‘stretch’ and ‘challenge’ are different things? If you reach a point where your most able students are struggling to cope with the volume, you might be in the territory of imposing limits – but otherwise, take the limits away. There is a lobby against homework.
