Web3 okt. 2010 · rear main seal leaking brand new. its a 2 piece design. when i put it in i was very generous with rtv. i can see a drip up my road every ten feet. ive heard new seals need to be broken in but thats a lot of oil coming out. ive run 15 dollars worth of gas in it and im down to the fill line. ***. i need to get rid of this **** box. T techinspector1 Web3 feb. 2024 · Cleaning the lower cap to spotless clean and putting a tiny dab of sealant on the sides of the cap completed the job. Be sure to not get any sealant on the top of the cap where it could interfere with the fit of the cap to the block. DON'T FORGET to tighten and torque all 7 bearing caps. Good Luck, L.M.

February 25th, 2024, 02:50 … Web12 nov. 2010 · A good way to check for a rear main leak is to take a piece of bailing wire, put a 90 degree bend 1/4 long and run it along the crank where the seal rides, if it comes back clean it not the rear main seal, usaually the pan to the rear main cap is the culprit.
