WebThis document outlines the National Practice Model for Advocacy for the Children’s Hearings System. The development of the model was commissioned by the Scottish Government in order to develop a sustainable model of advocacy to realise the policy intention of Section 122 of the Children’s Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011. Webidentified from a postal survey of British self-advocacy groups (from Goodley, 1998a) and through contacts made by researchers in their previous work. The four groups were chosen to capture divergent types of group, varying advisor roles and affiliations, and to reflect some of the differences in the social and personal lives of self-advocates.
