Some people, for good reasons, separate the broody and her chicks from the flock. There are risks and advantages both ways. I think how much room Mama has to work with is an important issue, but there are other things involved. WebJun 9, 2016 · Relax and take a breath. Feed doesn't effect the birds that quickly. Simply feed a flock generic grower type feed and keep offering the shells on the side for the hens. The chicks may investigate it, but won't be all that interested.
