WebYou might be able to pick up an old HP Microserver for cheap. It would give you room to expand into the 4 bays, and should use less power than your average repurposed desktop PC. I feel a single board computer Pi/odroid kind of thing isn’t going to stand the test of time, and most branded NAS’s are very expensive.
